AICC leaders are going all out assure its Telangana leaders that although the decision on Telangana isn't exactly imminent, it is very much on their agenda.
While Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde implored politicians in AP to maintain restraint, and said that the work for Telangana "is in the process", Health Minister and AP Congress Affairs chief Ghulam Nabi Azad says that they have been working towards a consensus for 2 years now, and it is not their fault if the vested parties keep backing out at the last minute.
"It is a very sensitive issue. One region wants a separate state, and the other doesn't. Several times we have come close to executing the separation, but if the parties involved change their minds at the final instance, we cannot help it," said Azad.
Meanwhile, Kerala MP and AICC spokesperson P C Chacko has assured that the delay does not mean that "we are going back on our word. We are all working very hard towards the same goal, which is to come to a decision satisfactory to all. All the involved parties have come and spoken to us, and have shown active interest in solving the issue. We respect their interest."
