Countering the arguments of expelled MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and S A Sampath Kumar that the Congress hadn't react properly to their expulsion, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader K Jana Reddy said that the party had done everything it could.
Jana Reddy conducted a CLP meeting at his residence on Saturday and discussed the unseasonal rains, the consequent crop losses and the political developments in the state.
In a chit-chat with the mediapersons later, Reddy said that MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy's and S A Sampath Kumar's argument in the meeting that the Congress didn't respond forcefully to their expulsion was false.
"We conducted programs in all constituencies protesting the government attitude towards the two MLAs, and took the issue to the party plenary, too. The party invited eminent lawyer and party senior leader Abhishek Singhvi to argue on behalf of the expelled MLAs. I myself spoke with Singhvi for this. We brought the expulsion issue to the notice of AICC chief Rahul Gandhi before the plenary so that it would be addressed in the plenary. Gandhi also asked Singhvi to handle the expelled MLAs' case. We also took the advices of law committee members. Please tell me what more we need to do," Reddy explained.
"We will still keep their (the expelled MLAs') remarks in mind. And we will clear whatever doubts they may have," he added.
