YSRCP Wants Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad Dismissed

The Party said the Speaker had himself admitted that he had spent Rs 11.50 crores to get elected in 2014, and thus conceded that he broke the law.
Hyderabad | 21st June 2016
YSR Congress Party leader and official spokesperson Ambati Rambabu urged the Election Commission to take action against Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad Rao for violating election rules.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Rambabu said that the Speaker had himself admitted that he had spent Rs 11.50 crores for the Assembly elections in his constituency in Sattenapally. Since he had accepted the illegality, he had no right to continue as an MLA, and the Election Commission should take suo moto congnizance of his acceptance and initiate action against him.

Stating that after consulting legal experts his Party would lodge a complaint with the Election Commission, Rambabu demanded that the Speaker however resign from the post himself.

It may be mentioned here that Kodela, during an interview with a TV channel recently, reportedly said that when he first contested elections in 1983 he had spent only Rs 30,000, but in 2014 spent Rs 11.50 crores.
