YSR Congress Asks Speaker To Disqualify Defectors
A delegation of YSRCP MLAs submitted a memorandum to the Andhra Pradesh Speaker seeking disqualification of the eight MLAs who had defected to the ruling TDP.
A delegation of YSR Congress Party MLAs, led by deputy floor leader Jyothula Nehru, called on the Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao on Saturday and submitted a memorandum requesting him to disqualify eight Party MLAs - Bhuma Nagi Reddy, Bhuma Akhila Priya, Adi Narayana Reddy, Jayaramulu, Kalamata Venkataramana, Jaleel Khan, Mani Gandhi and David Raju - who had defected to the ruling TDP, immediately.
Speaking to the media later, Nehru said that as per the provisions of the Anti-Defection law, the eight MLAs who defected to the TDP after winning on YSRCP tickets and had not resigned from their MLA posts needed to be disqualified immediately.
Nehru said that he urged the Speaker to therefore disqualify the defectors and thereby uphold law and democracy in the State.
Nehru said that the Speaker assured them that he would take action as per the provisions and the legislative rules.
Meanwhile, YSRCP MP from Kadapa Avinash Reddy demanded that Jammalamadugu MLA Adinarayana Reddy resign from his Assembly seat immediately if had any shame and self-respect, and contest the election again.
He also predicted that Adinarayana Reddy would lose even his deposit in the consequent by-election.
