YSR Congress Party (YSRTP) chief Y S Sharmila today met Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress head D K Shivakumar.
Sharmila claimed that she had paid just a courtesy call on Shivakumar, and had congratulated him for playing a key role in bringing the Congress to power in the State. However, speculations are rife that Sharmila and DK also held political discussions during their meeting, and the meeting led to some chatter in Telangana, given speculations that there may be an alliance between the YSRTP and the Congress in the State.
Political circles say that talks of an alliance between the YSRTP and the Congress have been going on for some time in Telangana, and that efforts are being made to jointly contest the upcoming Assembly elections in the State.
There are also rumours that Sharmila will be given the responsibility of the Congress in Andhra Pradesh if an alliance is forged.
There is also gossip that Sharmila may have met Shivakumar to seek mediation to resolve her differences with the AP Chief Minister and her brother Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Meanwhile, TPCC Working President Mahesh Kumar Goud said that the meeting of the two leaders was a good development.
