Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development D Purandeswari on Wednesday stated that all Congress leaders must stand by the High Command's decision on Telangana.
Participating as a chief guest at the South India Journalist Students' conference at Padmavathi Mahila University, the Union Minister appealed to employees participating in the general strike to withdraw their agitation since it was causing inconvenience to people and affecting their livelihoods.
She said that Congress leaders would accept any decision that the Centre takes on the creation of a Telangana state.
Purandeswari called upon women student journalists to actively join the profession and prove that women are better than their male counterparts.
She said that journalism has power to eradicate ills in the society, and appealed to journalists to act in a responsible and constructive manner by creating awareness among people.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and MLA K Chiranjeevi also participated in the program. (INN)
