Wooing the voters of Narayankhed which is going in for a by-election on February 13, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today offered to address their issues on a war footing.
Addressing a public meeting in the town, he asked the people to vote for the TRS to enable him to get the Godavari waters through the Gattulingampally area to "cleanse the feet of the people", and to supply safe drinking water through Mission Bhagiratha.
Accusing the previous governments of failing to develop the area that was deprived of every facility, KCR asked the people to elect the TRS candidate M Bhupal Reddy for its growth.
Getting nostalgic about how he, being a lean man, fought for statehood for 14 long years and faced criticism from the Opposition parties, he said that now that the TRS had come to power, it would wipe away the tears of the people and provide them all basic facilities.
KCR slammed the earlier Congress and TDP governments for leaving behind many problems. The Telangana government was implementing many welfare schemes, spending a whopping Rs 35,000 crores for pensions alone, he claimed. About 3,400 people were benefited from the pension scheme in the Narayankhed area, he said. The ruling Party would now develop Narayankhed like it did Siddipet, he said.
Moved by the "pathetic" conditions of the area, minister Harish Rao was seeking more financial support for the rapid growth of the town, KCR said, and praised Harish Rao as a "bullet-like" leader.
Harish Rao said that the TRS government had given Rs 14 crores for the marketyard in the area. He said that if the TRS won the by-election, he would touch the feet of KCR seeking more funds to develop the constituency.
