The CBI Special Court, on Monday, rejected Jagati Publications' financial advisor Vijay Sai Reddy's petition seeking permission to use his laptop without an Internet connection inside the Chanchalguda prison.
Rejecting the petition, the Special Court agreed with the views of the CBI counsel that Vijay Sai Reddy might influence witnesses and tamper with the evidence by sending them messages through his laptop.
The CBI's counsel said that it has no objection to allowing him to use white paper, a pen and a type writer, instead of a laptop.
Vijay Sai Reddy's counsel stated that being a reputed chartered accountant, Reddy has been dispensing financial advise to various companies, and that the laptop was necessary for him to complete his pending tasks.
The counsel further assured the court that the laptop will not be misused, and that it will not have any Internet connection.
However, the CBI Court rejected the petition. (INN)
