Congress senior leader V Hanumantha Rao today reiterated that he would contest for the Khammam seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking at a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Rao said that he had been working in Khammam to strengthen the Congress for many years, and had fought against every injustice done to the people of the constituency.
"The party cadre is asking me to contest for the Khammam Lok Sabha seat. And indeed, is there any leader who has worked harder than me for the party?" Rao asked.
He said that he was meted out injustice in the last Lok Sabha elections, with his candidature not being considered during the selection of candidates. He said that he however had faith in CM Revanth Reddy, and that the latter would definitely do justice to him and give him the party ticket for the constituency.
He however still expressed regret over being sidelined in the party. "What have I done wrong in the party? And what is the situation of seniors like me if the new leaders are asking the ticket?" he lamented.
