TDP national secretary and MLC Nara Lokesh today condemned the recent vandalising of the statue of TDP founder and former Chief Minister N T Rama Rao in Korukonda mandal's Dosakayapalli village of East Godavari district, and blamed the YSR Congress Party for the incident.
Targeting current Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, he tweeted on his official Twitter handle that the CM was the "human form of stupidity", and alleged that the latter had stopped to a new low by destroying the statues of the great people of the state.
In his tweet, Lokesh said that the YSR Congress Party regime, which was "responsible for the destruction of idols of deities in temples across the state" as well, was now focussing on the destruction of the statues of eminent people.
He also asserted that the defacing of NTR's statue would not do anything to remove him or his legacy from the hearts of the people of the state.
The AP government has found itself in a sticky situation as the number of temple vandalism incidents has been on the rise in the state. Most recently, it became the target of unending ridicule and criticism after an idol of Lord Kodanda Rama at the Ramateertham temple in Nellimarla of Vizianagaram district was
desecrated by some miscreants. The incident caused
mass outrage among the political parties in the state, and prompted TDP head Chandrababu Naidu to lash out at the Jagan regime. The BJP OBC Morcha also
lambasted the government on the matter.
