Expressing anger at the representatives of L&T for "escaping" from the responsibility for the Medigadda mishap, Minister for Irrigation Uttam Kumar Reddy today ordered the company to submit a comprehensive report on the incident.
Reddy held a meeting with representatives of L&T and discussed the mishap. During the meeting, the letter written by L&T that it would not take up the repair works of the Medigadda barrage and would not bear the repair costs also came up for the discussion.
Responding to the letter, the minister claimed that L&T executed the Medigadda barrage without maintaining quality standards, and that public money was wasted due to the poor execution of the project. He said that the State government would not stay silent and would take stringent action against all those who wasted the public money.
On the occasion, Reddy also directed the officials to summon the companies who had constructed the Annaram and Sundilla barrages, and said that a full investigation should be conducted to establish the truth in those, too.
Since the Congress government came to power in Telangana, Reddy has been regularly conducting reviews on the irrigation projects constructed under the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme.
