The Parliament building rocked with the slogans of Samaikyandhra on Tuesday, with MPs and legislators staging protests both inside and outside the House.
While the TDP members stalled the proceedings of both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha with their demand to "save Andhra Pradesh", Congress MPs and legislators held a dharna before the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Parliament premises.
TDP MPs entered the House sporting T-shirts with the slogans "Save Andhra Pradesh", and disrupted the proceedings, leading to adjournment of both the Houses.
About 60 legislators and MLCs, who originally planned to stage dharna at Jantar Mantar, met at the residence of Lok Sabha MP Magunta Srinivas Reddy's residence on Tuesday. After discussions, they changed their strategy, and entered the Parliament premises by way of visitors' passes.
Union ministers K Chiranjeevi, Killi Kruparani, Kavuri Sambasiva Rao and D Purandeswari were among those who took part in the dharna. (INN)
