Two Maoists Killed In Warangal Encounter
Two Maoists were killed in an encounter with the Greyhounds in the forest area under the Govindaraopet mandal of the Warangal district on Tuesday morning.
Two Maoists were reportedly killed in a fierce encounter with the Greyhounds in the forest area under the Govindaraopet mandal of the Warangal district on Tuesday morning.
According to the Warangal District Superintendent of Police Amber Kishore Jha, upon receipt of information that Maoists were moving in the Warangal district for the past two months, the Greyhound personnel had started combing the forest areas in the district. When they were searching the area near Mettuguda of the Rangapur forest area in the morning hours, some Naxalites started firing at them when asked to identify themselves.
The shootout reportedly lasted five hours, at the end of which two of the Naxalites, Vidyasagar Reddy and Shruti, were killed.
Reports said the other Maoists escaped after setting off a landmine blast. KKW (Khammam-Karimnagar-Warangal) secretary Damodar's dalam members were in the group that was involved in the firing, and were responsible for the blast. The police are searching for them.
On Monday, the Maoists reportedly torched a JCB in the Mallampally village under the Mulug mandal. Maoist posters were also sighted in the Mogullapally and Chityal mandals some 20 days ago. The Maoists reportedly released posters warning Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary of dire consequences.
