Minister for Agriculture Tummala Nageswara Rao today lashed out at the Opposition parties for spreading a "malicious campaign" on the crop loan waiver.
The minister said that for the last four days the opposition leaders had been misleading the farmers on the crop loan waiver using the social media as a platform, and were indulging in cheap tactics against the Congress government.
"The opposition leaders are trying to save their political existence by criticising the Congress government's schemes, which are being implemented as promised. The opposition leaders are unable to digest the trust of the people in the State government increasing, and are trying to create confusion among the farmers with their false statements," Tummala said.
He asserted that the State government had extended the loan waiver scheme to all farmers whose family determination has been completed upto Rs 2 lakh, and would also pay those farmers whose accounts were left with less than two lakhs after doing family determination.
"We are also collecting the details received from banks of farmers with incorrect information, and are trying to rectify the mistakes so as to extend the loan waiver to all eligible farmers," Tummala said.
