While agreeing that the creation of new districts was necessary for easier governance and would enable the government officials to stay much closer to the people, TPCC vice-president Mallu Ravi alleged that the ruling TRS was trying to utilize the creation of new districts to meet its selfish ends.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, Mallu asked the ruling Party to tell the people on what basis it was creating the new districts.
He suggested that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who was meeting the various district Collectors, should have conducted an all-Party meeting with public representatives, too, to take their views.
Pointing out to the process of the creation of Telangana State by the Centre and the Congress party, Mallu said the government needed to give priority to the public representatives.
He alleged that the people of the State were suffering from various problems, and the TRS party, which had been in power for two years back now, had failed to fulfill any of its assurances till now. "The government has brought the issue of the creation of new districts to the fore now to sidetrack the public issues," he said.
