The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday passed stay on the Union Home Ministry's order canceling the Indian citizenship of TRS MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh.
The court posted the case for four weeks later for the next hearing.
For the uninitiated, the Union Home Ministry had cancelled the Indian citizenship of Ramesh a few days ago citing fake documents.
Ramesh's advocate argued before the court that the Centre did not take the High Court's previous orders into account when cancelling his citizenship.
Ramesh's rival's counsel contended that Indian citizenship was granted to a foreigner only if he or she had lived in the country for 12 months continuously, and that Ramesh had got citizenship without living in the country for a year.
After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the High Court said that it would take all the related issues into consideration, and adjourned the hearing to December 16.
