The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Tuesday alleged that farmers from Telangana region were being discriminated in the distribution of relief and rehabilitation measures.
Addressing a press conference at the Telangana Bhavan, TRS Sircilla MLA KT Rama Rao said that crops spread across several lakh acres in Khammam, Karimnagar and Adilabad districts had been damaged due to the heavy rains and flooding caused by Nilam cyclone. Almost 80% of cotton crops worth several crores of rupees were lost in Telangana districts over the last few days. He alleged that the state government, however, did not extend any help to the affected farmers of the Telangana region.
KTR claimed that the Telangana farmers were being discriminated against, not only by the government but also by other political parties. He said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu and YSR Congress party's honorary president YS Vijayamma chose to visit only coastal Andhra districts while ignoring the affected areas of the Telangana region.
