Naidu Is Politicising "Nilam" Relief: Congress
Naidu is trying to politicise the relief operations by targeting the government, allege Legislative Council whips.
Hyderabad | 6th November 2012
The Congress Legislature Party on Tuesday accused Telugu Desam Party President N Chandrababu Naidu of politicising a natural disaster by leveling baseless allegations against the state government.
Addressing a joint press conference at the CLP office here, Legislative Council Whips Radraraju Padmaraju and Y Shivarami Reddy said that the government had taken all precautions to minimise the damages of cyclone Nilam. They said that Control Rooms were set up in the state capital and also in mandal headquarters, and the situation was monitored on a 24x7 basis. They said that it was due to the state of alertness observed by the state government that the damages, especially the loss of human lives, could be minimised.
However, they alleged that Naidu was trying to politicise the relief operations by targeting the government. They said that the TDP chief was trying to gain mileage out of a natural calamity. They claimed that while in opposition, the Congress party always gave constructive suggestions at the time of natural crisis. However, they alleged that Naidu was resorting to baseless criticism against the government.
They said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has visited some of the affected areas and a Central team would also visit soon to assess the damages. They said that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has already assured Central help for the affected areas. (INN)
