TOMCOM Helping Telangana Job Seekers Get Jobs Abroad: CS

The CS asked the MEA to expand and support the programs being taken up by TOMCOM.
Hyderabad | 21st April 2023
A delegation of officials of the Ministry of External Affairs led by Dr Ausaf Sayeed, IFS, Secretary (CPV&OIA), today visited Hyderabad and met Santhi Kumari, Chief Secretary, at BRKR Bhavan.

The visit was part of the Ministry of External Affairs' outreach to State governments to promote safe and legal migration.

Speaking in the meeting, Kumari said that the Telangana Overseas Manpower Company (TOMCOM) was a pioneering organisation that was bridging the gap between job aspirants and employers abroad, and requested the officials of the ministry to expand and support the programs being taken up by TOMCOM, which was the official registered recruitment agency of the Telangana government.

The Chief Secretary also said that the State had an incredible legacy of organising skill development training, and therefore it would like TASK and TOMCOM to be involved in taking up skilling programs on a larger scale. In this context she asked the MEA to recommend to the Ministry of Skill Development to set up an India International Skill Centre in Hyderabad in partnership with TOMCOM.

Overseas India Affairs Secretary Ausaf Sayeed promised the State government full support to TOMCOM in all its outreach programs. He said that the MEA mapped job opportunities in various countries, and would support Telangana to take up job relevant programs.

TOMCOM CEO Vishnuvardhan Reddy made a presentation and explained about the activities of the company. Mobilisation and enrollment of eligible candidates for overseas job opportunities, maintaining a database of skilled workers in various sectors, and partnering with training institutions and organising skill development, outreach and capacity building programs were some of the activities of TOMCOM, he said.

DGP Anjani Kumar, Special CS (Labour) Rani Kumudini, Principal Secretary (Industries) Jayesh Ranjan, Joint Secretary (OE) & Protector General of Emigrants (PGE) Brahma Kumar, Under Secretary Sushil Kumar Meena and other officials attended the meeting.
