Following a total lunar eclipse on January 31, the hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara will remain closed from 11 am to 9:30 pm on the day.
The eclipse is scheduled to occur between 5:18 pm to 8:41 pm on January 31. As per tradition, the doors to the temple will be closed six hours before the eclipse, and will reopen again at 9:30 pm the same evening. Pilgrims will be allowed into the premises for darshan from 10:30 pm until midnight, after the Shuddhi, Punyahavachanam and other temple-sanctifying rituals have been performed.
On account of the lunar eclipse, the TTD has cancelled the Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, Arjita Brahmotsavam, Vasantotsavam and Sahasra Deepalankara Seva to be held on the 31st of January.
