Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday alleged that the state government was trying to cover its shortcomings by providing proper administration through the Rachabanda program.
Talking to media persons at his residence after conducting a teleconference with party's district rank and file over the petrol price-hike, Naidu charged the Chief Minister, N Kiran Kumar Reddy, of attempting to cover up Congress' negligence in governance through the Rachabanda.
The TDP chief added that such attempts to cover loopholes and deficiencies, and to divert the attention of people would be met with failure since the public could see through the tactics.
Naidu revealed that he had directed his party cadre to highlight the rampant corruption and long -pending public grievances during the Rachabanda, and that he told his party workers to highlight the targeting of party workers and covering these killings by terming them as 'faction wars'.
Naidu said that the former Chief Minister, Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, had concentrated only on amassing wealth for his family, and that his son, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, was now using that money to make his mark in the state's politics.
The TDP chief directed his party workers to highlight the alleged involvement of Jaganmohan Reddy in factionalism, links with criminal gangs, land grabbing and 'settlement' issues.
Naidu asked his party cadre to enlighten the people about these facts, and to explain how the confidence the public had reposed in the Congress was misutilised.
Referring to the verdict given by the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal, the TDP Chief said that the state lost its rights on the Krishna river's waters because the government was negligent in appointing efficient counsels to put forth the state's argument properly.
Naidu expressed his belief that his party alone could provide a strong and efficient administration, and charged the Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) of forming a tacit pact on the separate statehood issue to defame his party. "This tacit pact should be revealed to the people," Naidu told his party cadre.
The former Chief Minister also told his party workers to remind the people of the non-issue of fresh ration cards, non-enhancement of old age and other pensions, failure to implement the Congress manifesto and increase the rice quota from the present 20 kgs to 30 kgs.
Naidu further pointed out the failure to pay the input subsidy to farmers who lost crops during the recent rains, and harassment of loanees by microfinance institutions' strongmen.
