Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao today claimed that the state had proved the leaders of undivided Andhra Pradesh wrong for having "belittled" the idea of a separate Telangana.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today claimed that the state had proved its capabilities in every major sector by excelling in the same, and that in doing so it had proved the leaders of undivided Andhra Pradesh wrong for having "belittled" the idea of a separate Telangana in the past.
Speaking after participating in a series of developmental programs in Rajana Siricilla district, he said, "With our total commitment and dedication to the cause of growth, development, and welfare, our government has been developing the irrigation infrastructure in Telangana. We have also been able to address the problem of erratic power supply. Our efforts have helped strengthen the farming sector in the state."
While in the district, the CM inaugurated an integrated collectorate building built at the cost of Rs 64 crore on a 93-acre plot, a driving and research training centre, a nursing college, and some two-bedroom housing units built as part of the state's free housing initiative.
He then addressed the locals and stated, "Our government is committed to completing all the ongoing irrigation projects as we wish to push up agricultural production in Telangana. As a result of our many pro-farmer development programs, those farmers who had earlier migrated to other states are now returning home. Further, due to the support schemes being implemented in the state, we recently achieved a remarkable feat by producing 92 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. Currently, we are also working on implementing new phases of existing programs for the benefit of livestock rearers. For this region, we have allocated Rs 5 crore for the construction of a community hall. Besides this, a medical college and an engineering college will soon be set up here."
KCR then announced that the TRS regime would soon disburse pensions to those above 57, and would offer insurance of Rs 5 lakh to the kin of deceased weavers.
The TRS supremo also took the opportunity to slam the parties of the Opposition and flayed them for their criticisms against the state's irrigation projects, pointing out that the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, which had been completed successfully, was providing water to many.
"The Mission Kakatiya initiative has helped to fill several water bodies which, in turn, has a significant impact on widening access to water for irrigation in rural Telangana. Apart from focusing on the agricultural sector, we have planned to spend Rs 45,000 crore for SC development as well. No other state has as comprehensive a set of welfare programs as ours," he added.
Ministers K T Rama Rao, S Niranjan Reddy, and P Ajay Kumar, TSPC deputy head B Vinod Kumar, and Chief secretary Somesh Kumar were among those officials who were present for the programs.
