Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today urged the Andhra Pradesh government to take steps to release waters from eight lift irrigation schemes comprising 30,000 acres under the Pulichintala project.
In a letter addressed to his AP counterpart, D Uma Maheshwar Rao, he sought to protect the standing crops under the Pulichintala project in Mellacheruvu and Mattampally mandals of the Nalgonda district.
He asked Rao to maintain the MDDL for two to three weeks to protect the crops and enable the TRS government to relocate four lift schemes.
The farmers were agitating as their crops sprawling 30,000 acres faced severe water crisis as the Andhra Pradesh government was yet to take steps to address it.
