Telangana Health Minister C Lakshma Reddy today launched an attack on the Opposition parties for levelling corruption charges against the State government.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, the minister lambasted the Congress leaders for creating "hysteria" among the people by alleging corruption in the irrigation and water projects.
He said that the Congress was also being hypocritical as it had itself acquired lands during its regime without providing proper compensation to the people.
The acquisition of land was inevitable during massive undertakings, Reddy said. The State government would however give fair compensation and rehabilitation to the evacuees, he promised, and added that the projects would benefit the oustees.
Slamming the Congress for their remarks against the projects, the minister added that Telangana received several accolades from the Centre and also from other States.
Reddy said that the vision of the government was to provide potable waters to the people through the Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya projects, so that waterborne diseases could be prevented.
