In the backdrop of the Telangana students' Joint Action Committee refusing to withdraw its bandh call for Wednesday, Hyderabad Police Commissioner A K Khan on Tuesday announced the imposition of Section 144 in the city from 6am of August 10.
Earlier, the city police had imposed Section 144 in the city on 7 July, and had extended it for 2 weeks following a bandh call given by the Telangana Political JAC.
In a notification on Tuesday, Khan said that information has been received by the department about certain groups trying to disrupt public peace and order in Hyderabad.
As a result, every kind of assembly of public on the roads has been prohibited.
Khan has also prohibited every kind of procession, dharna, rally or public meetings. Individuals or groups of individuals are not allowed to make any speeches or gestures, or display pictures, symbols, placards or flags, which are likely to create religious animosity or hatred between different communities or individuals or are likely to cause disturbance to the public peace and order within the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Police officers and personnel, military personnel and Home Guards on duty and bonafide funeral processions are all exempted from the orders. (INN)
