City Police Commissioner A K Khan on Sunday stated that certain groups are trying to create disturbances and affect public peace and order in the city.
"Therefore, with a view to maintain public order, peace and tranquillity in Hyderabad city and the present law & order situation and security scenario, Sections 144 is being imposed in the city," he said.
The police have prohibited all processions, dharnas, rallies and public meetings.
Further, all individuals and groups of individuals have been prohibited from making any speech or gesture, or displaying pictures, symbols, placards, flags etc., that are likely to create religious animosity or hatred between different communities or individuals or to cause a disturbance to the public peace and order within the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
These restrictions will be in force from 6am on 31 October to 6 November.
However, police officers and personnel on duty, military personnel on duty, Home Guards on duty, bonafide funeral processions and persons or groups duly exempted by competent authority have been exempted from above prohibitions. (INN)
