Congress president Sonia Gandhi, too, has reiterated that Telangana would be a reality soon.
The UPA chairperson is said to have reassured a group of freedom fighters from Telangana, who met her on the sidelines of the 71st anniversary of the Quit India Movement, that a separate Telangana state would definitely be formed.
Pasam Chandrasekhara Reddy (Nalgonda), Venkata Rao (Mahabubnagar), Ramachandra Reddy (Warangal) and Nagabhushana Tao (Khammam) were among 121 freedom fighters who were honoured during the "At Home" program, by President Pranab Mukherjee, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, on Friday.
Later, the freedom fighters met Sonia Gandhi and thanked her for taking a favourable decision on Telangana. She reportedly assured them that the Centre would soon carve out Telangan, as the decision has already been taken and announced.
However, she requested that the people of Telangana wait in peace and avoid confrontations with Seemandhra people. (INN)
