TRS MLA K Tarakarama Rao, on Sunday, expressed confidence that the Centre would announce a favourable decision on a separate Telangana before the 2014 general elections.
Participating as the chief guest at the Telangana Public Prosecutors' Conference held at a private hotel, Tarakarama Rao said that the Centre does not want to see the Telangana issue in its 2014 elections agenda.
He hoped that both the Centre and the Congress would resolve the Telangana issue and announce a decision on it before the 2014 elections.
He said that the people from the region were ready to prosecute the government if it fails to honour its promise on Telangana.
The TRS leader criticised the government for not giving enough the people of Telangana enough representation in the appointment of prosecutors. Of 316 public prosecutors, he said, only 123 belong to the Telangana region.
He assured the prosecutors present that he would raise their issues in the Assembly.
Blaming chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for the power crisis in AP, he remarked that one need not be surprised if the government happens to introduce an "Indiramma Visanakarra scheme" (a satirical comment on the government's "Indiramma" schemes - "Visanakarra" translates to "handmade fan") for power consumers.
Telangana Political Joint Action committee chairman M Kodandaram took serious note on the chief minister going ahead with the Polavaram irrigation project with the present design. He said that the CM was inviting wrath from the court, which, he said, had clearly asked the government to change the design.
Meanwhile, he also appealed to Telangana leaders to make the Telangana Million March called on September 30 a success.
Former MP T Vinod and other TRS leaders participated in the program. (INN)
