Speaker Withdraws Comments On Sunitha Lakshma Reddy
Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar said that he was withdrawing his comments against the BRS MLA during a debate in the Assembly on March 24.
Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar today announced that he was withdrawing his comments made against BRS MLA Sunitha Lakshma Reddy during a debate on the bills in the Assembly on Monday.
Reddy brought up the Speaker's remarks against her when the Legislative Assembly convened.
She said that she was hurt by the Speaker's comments while she was speaking in the House.
She added that she had not deviated from the subject and that she had not heard the Speaker's remarks clearly.
"I have never violated Parliamentary traditions. I am hurt by your comments. Even when the Chief Minister insulted us in the past, we remained silent in protest and did not behave inappropriately. I leave it to your wisdom to decide whether to modify your comments or not," she said.
Responding to her remarks, the Speaker said that he had great respect for women.
"I have eight older sisters. I did not direct those comments at you. You were providing a running commentary. Sunitha Lakshma Reddy deserves immense respect. If you feel hurt, I withdraw my words," he added.
