Telangana received 15% more rainfall during the water year 2019-20 (upto March 2020), the state's groundwater department said today.
The state received actual rainfall of 994 mm as against the normal 865 mm during the water year (June 2019 to March 2020).
Of the 33 districts in the state 13 districts - Wanaparthy, Kumuram Bheem, Peddapally, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nizamabad, Mulugu, Bhupalpally, Narayanpet, Siddipet, Rajanna Siricilla, Karimnagar and Warangal (Urban) - received excess rainfall (+21% to +45%).
A net average fall in groundwater levels of 0.81 m was however observed from February to March, with a fall observed in all districts (-0.20 m in Wanaparthy to -1.89 m in Medak) except in Jagitial, where a negligible rise of 0.04 m was observed.
