4 Telangana MPs met Chairman of Cabinet Sub-Committee on Advocates, J Geetha Reddy, at the Secretariat on Friday to apprise her of the situation before her scheduled meeting with protesting lawyers.
The lawyers had been invited by the state government on Friday evening for a dialogue in a bid to solve the stalemate on 42% quota in Judiciary posts for people from Telangana.
After holding discussions with the Minister for 2.5 hours, MPs G Vivek and Madhu Yaskhi told media persons at the Secretariat that the Minister had heard their views patiently and had assured to take a favorable decision after her discussions with the lawyers.
The lawyers said the Minister had feigned ignorance over the release of statistics by Minister for Technical Education and Law, Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao, which substantiated that no injustice has been done to Telangana people in the recruitments.
MP Yaskhi said that the figures were wrong and attempted to cover up the injustice done to people from Telangana.
Yaskhi added that the Constitution has unambiguously stated that bias should not be shown to candidates from a single zone.
The MPs appealed to the Minister to implement 42% quota for Telangana lawyers in Judiciary recruitments. The MPs urged the Minister to do justice for all regions in the recruitment for posts.
The MPs also revealed that they were on their way to meet the fasting lawyers who were shifted to Gandhi Hospital by the police on Thursday.
