Telangana Ministers To Urge Centre
Ministers from Telangana have decided to leave for New Delhi and urge the Congress High Command to arrive at a decision on separate statehood in the near future.
Ministers from the Telangana region have decided to leave for New Delhi and urge the Congress High Command to arrive at a decision on the separate statehood demand in the near future.
According to sources, the ministers are of the view that they had to give an indication to the people of Telangana that they too were making efforts for the formation of a separate state, since their images were being eroded rapidly.
The ministers' decision came at the meeting between the MPs and the Congress legislators who had returned from New Delhi. This meeting was called for by Panchayat Raj Minister Jana Reddy.
The sources further said that Reddy would write to the High Command and apprise it of the non-cooperation agitation in which the state government employees were taking part. The letter would also urge the High Command to make an announcement which would help cajole the employees to call off their stir.
The ministers would also take a decision after meeting the party senior leaders on whether to resign. This was reflected in the statement to the media by CWC member Keshav Rao who said that "en masse resignations of the Congress legislators would serve no purpose - we will still take a final decision on this demand by other pro-Telangana leaders after consultations with the High Command."
Ministers Jana Reddy, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Jupalli Krishna Rao, Saraiah, D Sridhar Babu, D K Aruna and Sunita Lakshma Reddy were present at the meeting.
