Congress MPs from Telangana region on Sunday decided to up the ante in their quest for a separate state by urging the centre to bring in a bill on the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh during the budget session of the Parliament.
Briefing media persons on the deliberations of a meeting held at the residence of MP G Vivek on Raj Bhavan Road, senior leader Madhu Yaskhi Goud revealed that the attendees had decided to write to the Union Finance Minister and Congress Core Committee member Pranab Mukherjee, beseeching him to hasten the proposed all-party meeting to discuss the options given by the Justice Srikrishna Committee in its report.
Yaskhi Goud also revealed that the MPs letter would also urge Mukherjee to ensure that the separate Telangana Bill be introduced in the budget session itself.
The Nizamabad MP also said that his colleagues from Telangana who participated in the meeting were unanimous in the view that the party high command made its stand on the separate statehood issue clear.
Referring to the verbal onslaught launched by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President and his followers against Congress leaders over the separate statehood issue, Yaskhi Goud said that what KCR said about them was irrelevant.
He said that the MPs were ready to sacrifice anything for the cause of Telangana statehood and KCR's diatribe might attract the attention of a few people for some time, but would not affect their dedication.
Yaskhi Goud said that the Telangana MPs were carrying out their responsibility of fighting for separate statehood, and they did not want certificates for their work from any leader.
He emphasized, "We are even ready to sacrifice our posts for the cause of Telangana state".
