The state government, in all likelihood, will announce the constitution of a 3-member panel comprising of Information and Public Relations Minister J Geetha Reddy, Forest Minister Rama Chandra Reddy and Minister for Major Industries Kanna Lakshmi Narayana, to study the implications of giving in to the
demand of 42% reservations for lawyers from Telangana in Judiciary posts.
This was hinted by Geetha Reddy on Wednesday, when she said that appointing a panel to study the demands of reservations in the Judiciary for lawyers from Telangana would be the best possible solution to the issue.
Geetha Reddy said that staging dharnas and protests over the issue was not advisable, since the issue could not be solved without studying the implications of such a quota.
Reddy added that she was planning to meet Chief Minister K Rosaiah over the issue, and said that such a panel will be constituted with one minister from each region of the state.
The minister pointed out that in the previous year, out of 72 posts in APJP, 33 posts were given to people from the Telangana region, whereas 26 posts went to people from Coastal Andhra and 13 towards people from Rayalaseema.
Geetha Reddy further said that discussions are going on to give the Advocate Journal post to a legal luminary from the Telangana region, and that a decision will be taken regarding this soon.
Reddy said that Congress government did not differentiate among the people of the State, and that it saw them in equal light.
The Minister also said that the party has worked with equal dedication for the upliftment of the people from Telangana region as well as from other regions.
