Law Minister A Indrakaran Reddy on Friday informed that the state government proposed to set up a temporary building for the Telangana High Court in the Gachibowli area.
Replying to a query during Question Hour in the Telangana Legislative Assembly, the minister said that the government would begin the process for recruitments on different posts soon after the establishment of a separate Telangana High Court.
Besides the posts of Junior Judges, all vacant posts would be filled. He said a library for junior lawyers would also be set up.
Disclosing the details of the expenditure incurred on Government Pleaders and Standing Counsels, the minister said that the each Government Pleader was paid Rs 55,000 per month, and each Special Government Pleader was paid Rs 75,000 per month.
Standing Counsels were paid a minimum monthly honorarium of Rs 15,000, and more if the retainer fee and case-wise fee exceeded Rs 15,000 per month on average.
From August 2014 to February 2015, the state government has paid Rs 21 lakhs to Special Government Pleaders and Rs 69.30 lakhs to Government Pleaders.
The minister informed that of the 4,327 cases disposed of till February, as many as 4,134 cases were in favour of the government.
He said that the Advocate General had been directed to review the status of the pending cases once in every three months. All District Collectors too had been asked to review the pending cases regularly.
TRS MLA M Sudheer Reddy, Congress MLA G Chinna Redddy and BJP MLAs N V S S Prabhakar and Dr K Lakshman expressed concern over the rising number of pending cases.
Lakshman also said that the promised Rs 100 crores for the Advocate Welfare Fund had not yet been released. (INN)
