Committed To SC Categorisation: Sampath Kumar

AICC Secretary Sampath Kumar said that the SC sub-classification was a fundamental objective of the Congress.
Hyderabad | 30th January 2025
All-India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary S A Sampath Kumar today said that the sub-classification of scheduled castes was a fundamental objective of the Congress, and that the Telangana government was fully committed to implementing this categorisation.

"If any individual from the Congress expresses opposition to the SC sub-classification, it amounts to opposing the party," he added.

Addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Kumar said that the State government was dedicated to the implementation of SC categorization.

He said that Krishna Madiga, the founder of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) and a proponent of sub-categorisation, need not have any concerns regarding this issue.

The Congress leader criticised the BRS leaders for "misleading" the public regarding the implementation of sub-classification for scheduled castes, and said that the BRS administration had betrayed the Madiga community.

"BRS leaders Harish Rao and K T Rama Rao claim that they will deliver justice to the Madiga community, which I find rather amusing. They should feel embarrassed for articulating such evident falsehoods. The previous administration did not take any steps towards the implementation of Scheduled Caste categorisation," Kumar said.

The AICC secretary said that the government would proceed with the sub-classification following the submission of a one-member commission report on the matter.
