Bifurcation Needs Agenda: Kavuri
Eluru MP Kavuri Sambhasiva Rao on Friday stated that he was not against the bifurcation of AP, provided it takes place with a clear agenda and on a solid basis.
Eluru MP Kavuri Sambhasiva Rao on Friday stated that he was not against the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh if it takes place with a clear agenda and on a solid basis.
Talking to mediapersons after meeting Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at the camp office, the MP stated that the state should not be divided on the basis of the sentiments of a 'group of people', but with an etched-out strategy.
Sambhasiva Rao further alleged that the elected representatives of the region are misguiding and provoking people.
"We are not objecting to the division of the state provided it has a scientific basis. The country will be divided into a 1000 parts if such decisions are taken based on the sentiments of a certain group of people. The bifurcation should not have any 'ulterior motive', nor should it benefit any particular political group," the MP stated.
Expressing serious concern over the ebbing of values in politics, Sambhasiva Rao criticized the Telangana leaders for verbally abusing Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. "They have not even spared the Justice Srikrishna Committee members in this regard," he lamented.
Stating that there was no need to apprise the Srikrishna Committee members of their responsibilities and duties, the MP stated, "I am neither happy nor do I have any regret about the opinion expressed by the members of the panel in the 8th chapter of their report."
The 8th chapter cautions the Centre that the Maoist influence and communal violence are likely to increase in the event of the formation of the Telangana state.
When asked about why he did not attend the meeting of Seemandhra MPs called by the Congress In-Charge Of Andhra Pradesh Affairs, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Sambhasiva Rao stated that he was busy due to some personal work.
