Telangana: Focus On Consensus

Abhishek Singhvi says tomorrow’s meeting will be all about building a consensus, and is neither the beginning nor the end of any process
Hyderabad | 4th January 2010
Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi has told the media in Delhi that tomorrow’s meeting will be all about building a consensus on the issue of statehood for Telangana. He spoke of eliciting views and generating a consensus so that a harmonious decision can be reached.

Singhvi asserted that it is neither the beginning nor the end of the Telangana development, and asked people to stop trying to second guess the process as that will amount to obstructing a sincere effort.

He stressed that the Congress Working Committee and the party manifesto have always stated that a consensus is necessary for the Telangana issue. A deadline on separate statehood cannot be reached now, he said.
