A resplendent Telangana is all set to emerge in its full wedding finery for its second Formation Day revelry on June 2.
The State government has made arrangements for massive celebrations on Thursday. After paying tributes at the Telangana Martyr's Memorial at Gun Park, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will unfurl the highest tricolor of the country, that will flutter at a height of 300 feet at Sanjeevaiah Park - this will surpass the current highest flag, which is at a height of 293 ft at Ranchi in Jharkhand. The Telangana flag also weighs about 60 kg.
KCR will also unfurl the national flag at Parade Grounds, and then address the gathering after a salute by the forces. He will also offer prizes to 62 eminent personalities from 29 fields on the occasion.
To mark the day, officials have decorated government offices, bus stations, railway stations, monuments and historical structures. The cynosures with the most beautiful and most attractive illuminations on the occasion are the Assembly, Secretariat, Tank Bund, Necklace Road and NTR Marg. Several major junctions and roads of prominence have also been slicked up.
The Governor is also to attend the Parade Grounds ceremony in the morning, and will also attend a similar program at HICC in the afternoon. The police and security officials have put their forces on extra alert, and have deployed an adequate number of staff for the smooth conduct of the event.
