Rajahmundry MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar has strongly advocated a debate on the Telangana Bill in the state Legislative Assembly.
Participating in the "Meet The Press" program organised by the AP Journalist Forum here on Sunday, Vundavalli said that all Seemandhra MLAs, across party lines, should participate in the debate to explain the consequences of the division of Andhra Pradesh. He said that the Seemandhra MLAs should present to people the real picture of the Seemandhra region.
Vundavalli alleged that a few leaders have portrayed a rosy picture of life after the formation of Telangana. He said the impression that has been created is as if each person would own 2,000 square yards of land and one kilo of gold each once Telangana is formed. However, he said that the entire State would suffer due to the division. He said that no roadmap has been prepared for the state's bifurcation.
The Congress MP further said that all MLAs should participate in the debate, and that voting on the Bill should be made compulsory.
Defending the decision to move a No Trust Motion against the Congress government, he recalled that former minister Indira Gandhi too had revolted against the CWC's decision to make Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy the Presidential candidate. (INN)
