Congress Suggests Correcting Assembly Proceedings

CM K Chandrashekar Rao defended his language stating that he wouldn't change the way he spoke and that the Opposition shouldn't ponder over it.

Responding to Telangana Congress' objections raised to his remarks against the Land Acquisition Act, 2013, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao defended his language stating that he couldn't change the way he spoke and that the Opposition shouldn't ponder over the dialect.

It is learnt that Congress members K Jana Reddy and Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka raised their objections on the "language" used to describe the previous Congress government's land acquisition act during the BAC meeting.

However the Chief Minister clarified that it was just the way he spoke. "You would have expressed your objection there and then instead of boycotting the session," the Chief Minister suggested.

Then Vikramarka replied, "I got up and asked for the mike to express my protest against the same, but you said that you wouldn't yield. Then I sat and thought that the Chair will give a chance to express our protest later. But the Speaker adjourned the House before expressing our view."

The Congress party reportedly asked whether the acquisition act passed by the Assembly was a new Act or an amendment to the previous one, to which the CM replied that it was an Act only.

The Opposition parties also expressed their unhappiness over Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao for allegedly making provocative statements in and outside the House. Responding, KCR said that the Legislative Affairs Minister shouldn't have made provocative statements against Opposition members.

The Congress also expressed its dissatisfaction over the way the traditions of the House were being carried out and alleged that the Speaker was not protecting the traditions of the House. "We are not permanent here but the House and its traditions are. It is our duty to respect traditions and as it is good for a democratic setup," the Congress members urged.

They also slammed the Speaker for allowing the defected MLAs from the Treasury Bench to speak. "It was in the floor leaders' discretion to give a chance to his Party members. When the Speaker didn't take any decision regarding defected MLAs, how could the Chair allow the defected MLAs to speak?" he asked.

Another point raised by the Congress was that conducting press meets while running the House was a distraction for debaters. Then responding on it, Assembly Secretary S Raja Sadaram said that the press meet of Peddapalli MP B Suman came to his notice later. Sadaram assured the members that he would not allow it in future.
