Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Monday requested Governor E S L Narasimhan to visit the 7 mandals of the Khammam district which have been merged with Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party office, Ponguleti appealed to the Governor to visit the mandals along with Chief Ministers K Chandrasekhar Rao (Telangana) and Nara Chandrababu Naidu (Andhra Pradesh) to get a first-hand account of the problems being faced by the people of those mandals.
Criticising Naidu, he said that the A P Chief Minister had time to visit Chattisgarh to discuss the Polavaram issue, but not to meet his Telangana counterpart in Hyderabad itself.
Ponguleti said that 17 organisations, who were campaigning against the present design of the Polavaram Dam, had joined hands, and would soon launch a massive agitation. (INN)
