Congress leaders from Telangana on Friday decided to mount pressure on centre by threatening to resign from their posts demanding introduction of Telangana bill in the Parliament.
The Telangana Congress leaders met at the Nizam Club early on Friday morning to discuss the
Justice Srikrishna Committee recommendations where it was decided that they should mount pressure on centre for introduction of Telangana bill on the first day of the budget session of Parliament.
Talking to media persons later, minister Jupalli Krishna Rao said that the Telangana leaders would intensify their struggle for achieving Telangana state without bothering about the recommendations of Srikrishna Panel's Report.
The Congress leaders also decided to send a delegation to New Delhi and brief the party High Command over the aspirations of Telangana people, and their sentiments over the separate statehood issue.
The meeting also condemned the police action on Osmania University students on Thursday, and decided to meet Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to raise their concern over the issue.
The Congress leaders also demanded that the government lifted curbs on the media regarding covering the aftermath on the Srikrishna Report.
Former minister Jeevan Reddy appealed to Congress President Sonia Gandhi to stand by the promise made by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on December 9th, 2009, on the Telangana statehood issue.
The former minister said that the commissions' recommendations were not acceptable to Telangana people. He said that the Congress would lose Telangana people's confidence if it failed to respect the sentiments and aspirations of Telangana people.
