Former minister and ex-Leader of Opposition in the Telangana Legislative Council Mohammad Ali Shabbir on Friday gave financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to the family members of the victim of the Moinabad rape and murder case.
The victim's sister Afreen Begum, brother Salman and other relatives came to the residence of Shabbir Ali at Jubilee Hills today.
Shabbir Ali, along with Hyderabad Congress Committee Minorities Department Chairman Sameer Waliullah and other Congress leaders, had a detailed discussion with them on the status of the case and also on their economic conditions.
Shabbir Ali also spoke to the Investigation Officer Ashok Chakravarthy over the phone and enquired about the status of the investigation.
The ACP told Shabbir Ali that the investigation was going on and that the forensic report was expected in the next 2-3 days.
The ACP also said that the accused (Madhu Goud) was already lodged in prison, and that it would be difficult for him to come out on bail as he had been arrested under the PD Act.
He assured Shabbir Ali that the police would complete the investigation in a fair manner without any delays.
The Congress leader said that the victim, who was allegedly raped and murdered by the TRS leader, was the sole bread-earner for the family, and slammed the state government for not extending any financial assistance to the family.
He also said that neither Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao nor Home Minister Mahmood Ali nor any other ministers had even met the family members even once.
Since the family was poor and the victim's sister Afreen Begum had been left alone, Shabbir Ali said that a financial assistance of Rs 50,000 had been given to her.
He also said that the girl had had no formal education so far, and therefore announced that he would bear all the expenses if any NGO provided her basic education, including Deeni Taleem.
He said that the Congress would extend all possible support to the victim's family, and that it would also keep following up on the investigation to ensure that the victim and her family got justice.
