T-Congress Demands Re-Verification Of Voters' Lists
The Party demanded that the EC conduct a re-verification of the voters' list from which it proposed to remove 19.71 lakh voters of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy.
Telangana Congress chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy demanded that the Election Commission conduct a re-verification of the voters' list from which it (the EC) proposed to remove 19.71 lakh voters of the Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts, and extend the last date for the preparation of the final list.
The TPCC held a meeting with important Party leaders of the Greater Hyderabad limits at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday under the leadership of Utam Kumar Reddy. Speaking to the media later, former MLA Marri Shashidhar Reddy said that the Party was addressing a letter to the Election Commission in this regard.
Marri alleged that the Election Commission was not giving the list of the names to be removed to the political parties though the government had announced that a door-to-door survey would be launched from March 25, and that the EC had not yet given the booth officials' list, either.
He also asked the EC to increase the duration of the booth-level door-to-door survey by the officials from two weeks to three weeks, and to give ample time to the staff which would conduct the door-to-door survey to see that no mistake was repeated in the voters' list this time. He also asked the EC to increase the time duration of the issuing of notices to the voters to three weeks.
He also said that the GHMC Commissioner had only convened an all-political-parties meeting, but not yet the meetings for the Rangareddy and Medak districts.
Senior leaders G Niranjan, Kamalakara Rao, Shyam Mohan Rao, Kyama Mallesh, Karthik Reddy and others participated in the meeting.
