Around 64% of voters cast their ballots to elect the candidates of their choice on Tuesday. The situation during voting for the 12 assembly constituencies in Telangana region was peaceful, save some tense moments in some areas.
According to figures released by the Election Commission, Chennur (SC) constituency saw the highest voter turnout of 74%, while Nizamabad Urban Constituency saw only 52% of voters casting their ballots.
Talking to media persons at his chambers at the Secretariat, Chief Electoral Officer I V Subba Rao said that barring some complaints of names of some voters missing from the voters' lists in Nizamabad Urban constituency, there have been no other complaints.
Subba Rao denied that any names were missing from the voters', lists and said that the candidates had been shown the lists 5 times prior to the voting.
He said that he had acted swiftly on the complaint and talked to the district Collector, SP and Zonal Officers and verified whether micro-observers and videographers were present. He added that he found that everything was in order in the constituency.
Giving details on the polling, Subba Rao said that Sirpur recorded 70% of voter turnout, Chennur 74%, Mancherial 71%, Yellareddy 70%, Nizamabad Urban 52%, Koratla 62%, Dharmapuri 63%, Vemulawada 55%, Siricilla 60%, Huzurabad 69%, Siddipet 71% and Warangal West 51.2%.
