Hyderabad | 16th October 2019
Even as the strike by the TSRTC workers entered its 12th day today, a delegation of State BJP leaders called on the Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan at Raj Bhavan and requested her to take suo moto cognizance of the observations of the High Court and instruct the government to pay salary for all employees of the TSRTC for the work done during September, 2019; to withhold the process of giving RTC land on lease to private parties, including such initiatives which were being conceptualized under BOT; to appoint a full-time Chairman and Managing Director to manage the affairs of the TSRTC as per the statute; and to follow the High Court advice and invite the TSRTC employees for negotiations.

The BJP leaders complained to the Governor that the RTC employees were on strike for the last 12 days, but that there hadn't been any efforts by the government to address the issues raised by the employees or the acute inconvenience and hardships being faced by the people at large during the festival season.

They also claimed that the government was taking recourse to tactics of intimidation to browbeat the RTC employees.

They said that the government was doing all this with the ulterior motive of handing over the prime properties of the RTC at vantage locations across Telangana, to the extent of 1,500 acres of land and other assets which were worth Rs 80,000 crores, to private individuals who had close proximity to the ruling TRS.

The BJP leaders also referred to two employees committing suicides and the closing down of educational institutions in the State.

The BJP delegation consisted of State BJP President K Laxman, Vice-President Dr S Malla Reddy, MLC N Ramachandra Rao and others.
