BJP floor leader Dr K Lakshman described the just-concluded budget session of the Telangana Legislative Assembly as highly disappointing.
Addressing a press conference at the State BJP headquarters at Nampally on Sunday, Lakshman said that the TRS Government suppressed the voices of the "real Opposition" by having a secret understanding with the Congress and the MIM.
Of the 63 questions of public importance posed by the BJP, the State Government gave replies to only 12, he said, adding said that the BJP MLAs were able to speak only for 8 hours and 30 minutes in the House.
He said that the BJP still tried to make a proper representation of the issues concerning the common man.
Lakshman said that the BJP wanted the industrial policy to be referred to a Select Committee. However, upon the request of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the BJP supported the policy on the assurance that all identified mistakes would be rectified by the government.
The BJP leader accused the TRS of misusing its strength in the House by trying to break the Opposition Parties. He said that no section of the society, especially the farmers and the students, managed to get any assurances from the government.
He said that the BJP would continue to play the role of a constructive Opposition Party and would also support the State Government if the latter decided to make any representation to the Centre. (INN)
