Telangana Bolsters Cashless Economy Further
The Civil Supplies Dept. started taking initiatives to facilitate online transactions in all Fair Price shops, as part of the cashless economy drive.

The push for a cashless economy in India strengthened as the Civil Supplies Department in Telangana started taking initiatives to facilitate online transactions in all Fair Price shops.
Following the instructions of the State government, Commissioner C V Anand, IPS, convened a meeting with the officials of his department and representatives of bankers to elicit their views on the implementation of cashless transactions in all Fair Price Shops in view of shortage of currency notes.
Representatives of the SBH, SBI, ICICI, Vijaya Bank, Yes Bank, Allahabad Bank, Bank of India and others attended the meeting.
In the meeting, the Commissioner said that there were 18,000 FP shops, and 84 lakh families were drawing their ration every month.
The department was planning to install Micro ATMs to enable the FP shops to make other transactions such as payment of water bill, electricity bill and so on.
The CS Commissioner directed officials to prepare an action plan for cashless system in FP shops under Public Distribution System in the next few days.
