Telangana BJP president K Laxman today embarked on a mass contact program called "BJP Jana Chaitanya Yatra".
The 15-day yatra (tour) will cover the entire state, and the various leaders of the party in the state will all participate in the yatra at various places.
Laxman started the yatra this morning after performing a Durga puja at the Basheerbagh crossroads temple, and then left for Yadadri, where he will perform another puja. He will address a public meeting at Bhongir at 5 pm today. The inaugural meeting at Bhongir will be participated in by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, MP and former union minister Bandaru Dattatreya, BJP national general secretary P Muralidhar Rao, BJLP leader G Kishan Reddy, BJP MLAs and other leaders.
Speaking to the media before leaving for the yatra, Laxman said that the Jana Chaitanya Yatra was a war against the TRS government, and was going to expose its failures. Alleging that the TRS had a nexus with the "communal" MIM, the BJP chief said that MIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi was controlling the steering of the "car" of the TRS. Laxman said that his party would not accept it if BC reservations were reduced by even 1% to give Muslims additional reservations under the "E" category.
